Collaborative Real World Research

  • In 2011, HITCG was selected to work with a consortium of commercial, government, and education partners, in researching a futuristic vehicle-to-vehicle communication platform, designed to warn drivers when an impending crash is imminent.
  • The consortium, called “CAMP” included representatives from the USDOT, engineers from the top eight car brands, (Ford, GM, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and Hyundai/Kia), and Virginia Tech’s renowned Transportation Institute.
  • HITCG’s role in this consortium was to recruit close to 900 naive drivers to take part in real world driving scenarios in clinics across North America, and to conduct dozens of focus groups.
  • This foundational and groundbreaking research is now in its longitudinal testing phase.
